Travel around the world and gain a deeper understanding of cultural perspectives without leaving town at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith's annual International Festival. The sights, sounds, and delectable aromas of over 30 cultures will mingle in one place in a dazzling display of color and excitement on April 26, 2014.

International Festival, row of flags
The event kicks off with a parade, when representatives from each country, dressed in traditional costume, present their respective flags. Afterwards visitors will be able to explore a roundabout venue hosted by students, faculty, student organizations, and community members showcasing their rich cultural heritage.

The amazing entertainment and food at the festival are lucky byproducts to the main purpose of this fun event, which is entering its seventh year. The festival helps to educate the campus and community about diversity and different cultures. This is a chance to see and meet the great people of our area and  the world.
International Festival
Featured countries and cultures in the festival are Afghanistan, Algeria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, England, Estonia, France, Gabon, Germany, Greece, Hmong, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Mexico, Nepal, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, South Korea, Taiwan, Trinidad & Tobago, United States, and Vietnam.
International Festival
The festival began as an international potluck dinner and has evolved into an event that allows others to learn through dance, music, and informational booths as well as traditional cultural dishes. All are welcome to attend this wonderful family event.
Last year UAFS had 50 international students attending classes on campus, and this year that number has risen to 150.
In addition, 150 students from UAFS are going to study abroad this year, and this is just the start of achieving global learning initiatives.
